The Chicago Steel of the USHL are your 2017 Clark Cup champions, and you know what that means: Massive celebrations and huge parades and a worldwide tour of the trophy.
Or, failing that, attending a Chicago White Sox game.
It was “Chicago Steel Night” on Wednesday at Guaranteed Rate Field, where members of the team were introduced and captain Marc Johnstone partook in one of our favorite cross-sport honors: The wrist shot-as-Ceremonial First Pitch!
Here’s New Jersey’s own Johnstone, whipping a wrister for a strike:
Congrats to the Steel and to Johnstone, who would be at least the No. 3 starter on the Sox if he were allowed to pitch with a hockey stick. Without one, he’s probably still be better than Mike Pelfrey.
