Chicago felon federally indicted for gun possession after allegedly pointing gun at St. Paul officer

A man is accused of pointing a gun at a St. Paul officer and struggling with the officer, the U.S. attorney’s office for Minnesota said Thursday.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Allen Denzel Oliver-Hall, 27, of Chicago, for possession of a firearm as a felon.

On June 21, a St. Paul officer entered an apartment in response to a 911 call about a domestic incident.

Oliver-Hall was sitting on a couch with a stolen 9mm pistol between his legs and ignored the officer’s orders to put his hands up, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. After the gun-pointing and struggle, the officer was able gain control of the gun and arrested Oliver-Hall.

Authorities learned Oliver-Hall is prohibited from owning firearms or ammunition due to felony convictions in Cook County, Ill., for burglary in 2011, possession of burglary tools in 2013 and aggravated vehicle code felonies in 2015, according to the indictment.

Oliver-Hall’s attorney had no comment Thursday.
