Chicago Bears make 2 new additions to coaching staff

CHICAGO — The Chicago Bears made two new additions to their coaching staff Friday, hiring an offensive assistant and a new assistant defensive line coach.

The Bears hired Ryan Griffin to be an offensive assistant, who will primarily work with quarterbacks and wide receivers, and Bryan Bing to be their new assistant defensive line coach.

Before accepting an offer to join Matt Eberflus’s coaching staff, Griffin spent ten seasons as a backup quarterback in the NFL, signing with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Tulane and playing there from 2013-14, before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015, where he was a backup or on the team’s practice squad until 2022.

Griffin appeared in two games throughout his career, going 2-4 with 18 yards passing during his 10-year NFL career.

He also had stints as a graduate assistant at the University of Pittsburgh (2019-2020, working with the defensive line), Kent State (2017) and Heidelberg University (2016), with a stint mixed in as Butler University’s defensive line coach in 2018.

Up next for the Chicago Bears, the NFL Scouting Combine kicks off on March 26 – Feb. 4 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
