No adverse events associated with the seeds have been reported, but the recall was made as a precaution, the FDA said.

Customers can identify the recalled seeds by the main label on the pouch and the lot number printed on the bottom of the back panel of the packaging.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. The FDA said that salmonella symptoms include fever, diarrhea (possibly bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Salmonella can also enter a person’s bloodstream and cause illnesses like arterial infectios, endocarditis and arthritis.

Customers should throw away the seeds and Natural Sourcing International will provide a replacement product with proof of purchase.

Anyone who needs replacement seeds or who has questions regarding the recall can contact Natural Sourcing International’s Customer Service line at 1-818-405-9705 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST Mondays-Fridays, or customers can email the company at customerservice@organically-simple.com.
