Chesapeake man sentenced to 17½ years for child exploitation

A 20-year-old Chesapeake man was sentenced to 17½ years in prison Wednesday in U.S. District Court for selling child pornography online.

Anthony Kandalepas is accused of helping a teenage girl that he picked up in Florida create and sell pornographic images through various social media platforms.

According to court documents, Kandalepas drove to Florida in November 2020 to pick up a 14-year-old girl, who was to undergo court-ordered substance abuse treatment, and brought her back to Chesapeake.

Kandalepas and the girl stayed in the attic of a Chesapeake residence, where Kandalepas recorded a sexual encounter with her, the Department of Justice said in a press release.

Kandalepas then assisted in selling the pornographic images online before traveling to upstate New York, where the pair were found by the Otswego County Sheriff’s Office.
