Cherry Hill bringing back Independence Day fireworks show

CHERRY HILL - For the first time since 2014, the township this summer will host an Independence Day celebration and fireworks show.

The show, with live entertainment and food from vendors, will take place on July 3 at Jonas C. Morris Stadium behind Cherry Hill High School West.

A fireworks show was a longtime staple of the township's July 4th celebration, but the tradition stopped amid rising complaints over parking, traffic and other problems near the Chapel Avenue school.

Planning is underway for this year's event, with more details to be released in the late spring and early summer, according to a statement Wednesday from Mayor Dave Fleisher.

It said the township will implement "strategic traffic measures aimed at minimizing disruptions to neighbors."

The police department also will help "with logistics to ensure the safety and security of all guests as well as residents," the statement said.
