Hasbro is producing a line of Angry Birds Star Wars games that invite children to play on modified versions of famous Star Wars sets and vehicles, like the Death Star and an AT-AT. There is also an Angry Birds Star Wars version of the block stacking game Jenga, with ice blocks meant to represent the Battle of Hoth. There were other smaller toys as well, like a slingshot that shot soft, foam balls with the Angry Birds Star Wars characters on them.
There was also an extensive line of plush toys, featuring bird versions of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader and Storm Troopers. The Empire has been cast as pigs, and the Rebel Alliance as the birds, so there were modified versions of each's symbol on Toys R Us employees' clothing.
There will also be tie-in Halloween costumes featuring the birds in Rebel pilot helmets, or pigs in Darth Vader or Storm Trooper helmets. The costumes run from about neck to the top of the knee the kids modeling them.
All the merchandise will be available Oct. 28 before the game launches, except for the Halloween costumes, which will be available online and at the Times Square Toys R Us in the next couple of days, a rep said.
