Cheating scandal sends a designer home early on 'Project Runway'

There was some shady stuff going down on Project Runway this week. After Claire was announced as the winner at the end of last week’s episode, Michael walked offstage, leaving everyone wondering what happened.

Through all the chaos, some fingers started pointing toward Claire. So she gave the judges a very measured response. “I literally took a pair of pants that I had, measured them to a T, and then made the exact same pant that I have,” Claire explained. The judges all agreed that what Claire was saying wasn’t that big a deal, but Michael had a different story.

Breaking the ‘Project Runway’ ruler rule

While backstage, Michael told Tim Gunn, “She has a retractable ruler in the apartment that she goes home and measures her garments for proportion, for fit.” Tim promised Michael he would get to the bottom of it. So Tim confronted Claire in front of everyone to find out just exactly how she was making it work.

Tim asked Claire if she did, in fact, have a measuring tape in her room and if she was using it to measure her garments there. Claire admitted to to having the tape and using it to measure a tank top and some pants. That was all Tim needed to hear as he told her, “We must rescind your win and send you home.” Michael tried apologizing to Claire for ratting her out, but she wasn’t having it as she walked out of the room. It was an unfortunate situation, but it had to be done.

Project Runway airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
