Chattahoochee Valley Community College hosts Hall of Fame awards ceremony

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — On Tuesday night, Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) held its annual Hall of Fame awards ceremony, marking the end of CVCC’s 50th-anniversary celebrations. The event was held at the Columbus Trade Center and honored individuals who significantly contributed to the college, the community, and beyond.

Among the inductees was Lynne Greene Frakes, the CEO of R.M. Greene, Inc.-CTV BEAM, who was recognized with the Distinguished Service award. Also recognized was educator and servant leader Lorenza Pharrams, who was bestowed with the title of Distinguished Alumnus.

Adding to the distinguished roster of inductees, CVCC’s Head Softball Coach, Steven O’Steen, was honored as the Distinguished Athlete. O’Steen began his career at CVCC in September 2000. He says being inducted into the Hall of Fame ranks among his highest honors.

The ceremony, hosted by Teresa Whitaker, herself a CVCC Hall of Famer, showcased the outstanding achievements of the honorees, highlighting their invaluable contributions to the college and the wider community.

The Hall of Fame event is a significant fundraiser for the CVCC Foundation. Since 2014, it has raised over $600,000 for the Student Scholarship Fund and supports students pursuing higher education.
