Charnetski has breakout day for Elmira College baseball

ALFRED, N.Y. (WETM) – It was a banner day for Elmira Notre Dame graduate Erik Charnetski on the diamond.

The grad student for Elmira College baseball blasted a three-run home run while driving in five RBI in the Soaring Eagles’ 22-9 win at Alfred Tuesday afternoon. Charnetski added a double going 3-for-5 on the afternoon to help even Elmira’s record to (6-6) in game one of a doubleheader against the Saxons.

Elmira stormed out of the gate scoring 10 runs in the first inning Tuesday and never looked back running away with the victory. Five different Soaring Eagles had three hits each helping rack up a total of 22 hits.

Both the 22 runs scored and hits are a season-high for Elmira. EC was just two off from tying the program record of 24 runs in a single game set back in 2016 at Valley Forge.

Elmira finishes up a doubleheader Tuesday night at Alfred before hosting Keuka College on Friday at 3 PM at The Holding Point Complex in Horseheads.
