This Charlotte shop is the best bakery in NC, according to Yelp’s ‘Elite Squad’
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (NEXSTAR) – Where do Yelp’s “Elite” members go when they get a hankering for doughy treats and refined sugars?
If they’re in North Carolina, they just might head over to Villani’s Bakery, according to the review website.
Yelp has recently compiled a list of the best bakeries in every state based on the ratings of its “Elite Squad” — a group of users who have demonstrated a knack for going “above and beyond” with their reviews and photos — and Villani’s Bakery apparently takes the cake in North Carolina.
“It’s like a little NYC/NJ bakery in the heart of Plaza,” shared one Yelp “Elite” reviewer. “Everything you’d expect from an Italian bakery, but without the craziness.”

Villani’s Bakery, located on Pecan Avenue in Charlotte, serves a wide variety of pastries, muffins, desserts, and cakes. They’re also constantly changing the menu based on seasonal freshness or if one of their bakers has a creative idea.
In particular, several Yelp reviewers mentioned their tiramisu. “Their tiramisu is to die for – it’s so light and fluffy but sooo flavorful and amazing,” shared one reviewer.
