Charlotte man accused of breaking into ex-girlfriend’s home, hiding in car

MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte man was arrested Sunday after being accused of breaking into a woman’s home in Morganton.

According to the Morganton Department of Public Safety, officers received a 911 call March 18 in regards to a breaking and entering in progress. Officers say the caller reported her ex-boyfriend was attempting to gain entry to her home with the use of what she believed to be power tools.

Officers say when they arrived on scene they identified the suspect’s vehicle parked in the area. He allegedly attempted to hide in the rear passenger area of the truck and was identified as 25-year-old Ramiro Marcelo Cruz of Charlotte.

While Cruz was detained, investigation reportedly showed footprints and pry marks on the home’s front door and that the rear screen was removed from a window.

Cruz was charged with attempted first-degree burglary and second-degree trespassing. He was held without bond.
