Charges pending from May 7 confrontation with police
May 15—ANDERSON — The Anderson man who shot himself during a confrontation with a Pendleton police officer has a lengthy criminal history.
Ross Morelock, 39, shot himself in the head on May 7 following a traffic stop in north Anderson after exchanging gunfire with Officer Jerry Branson.
Morelock is facing possible charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and battery with a deadly weapon.
He is listed in critical condition in an Indianapolis hospital.

Morelock has pending charges in Fayette County of possession of methamphetamine and dealing in methamphetamine from 2021.
He was convicted in Henry County in 2019 on charges of possession of methamphetamine and a controlled substance. Morelock was sentenced to six year in prison but was released in 2021.
Morelock has been charged in Madison County with criminal confinement with use of a deadly weapon and domestic battery in 2013.
He has a 2014 conviction of possession of marijuana and of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and being a habitual traffic offender.
Amelia Peters, 23, who was arrested on May 7, was the driver in the vehicle in which Morelock was riding. She has a 2023 conviction for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a legend drug.
She received a two-year suspended sentence.
No charges have been filed against Peters and the investigation is ongoing.
