Charges filed in Monday night Joplin shooting

JOPLIN, Mo. — Jasper County prosecutors file charges against a Joplin man they say was involved in a Monday night shooting.

Trent Cobb, 34, is charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action. He remains at large after police tried to locate him at his residence at 1515 S. Wall shortly after the shooting.

Joplin’s SWAT team was called in because JPD says Cobb shot a man in the abdomen during an altercation near 18th and Main. Because the crime involved a firearm, JPD believes Cobb is armed and dangerous.

If you know Cobb’s whereabouts you’re urged to contact the Joplin Police Department at 417-623-3131.

Cobb was on probation for a DWI charge from December 2023. According to court records, Cobb recently missed a probation compliance check.

There is currently a warrant out for Cobb’s arrest for Monday night’s shooting.
