All the new characters on 13 Reasons Why

As Clay and co. continue to grapple with the aftermath of Hannah’s death, Liberty High will welcome several new faces on season two of 13 Reasons Why. There are some new adults as well. Let’s meet everyone:

Chloe

Played by Anne Winters, Chloe is described by Netflix as a pretty “it girl” who’s also the new head cheerleader at Liberty. Winters previously appeared on episodes of Tyrant, Wicked City, and The Fosters. She can next be seen in the movie Night School opposite Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart.

Cyrus

Played by Bryce Cass, Cyrus is an “edgy, cynical mischief maker” at Liberty High. As Variety points out, 13 Reasons Why is the 20-year-old actor’s first major gig. FYI: both Anne and Bryce appeared on NBC’s adaptation of Cruel Intentions in 2017 but the show was eventually scrapped by the network.

Mackenzie

Played by Chelsea Alden, Mackenzie is Cyrus’ sister, an “artsy and witty girl who isn’t afraid to speak her mind.” Alden’s résumé includes episodes of American Horror Story: Roanoke, Veep, Grey’s Anatomy, The Ranch, and Jane the Virgin. Most recently, Chelsea starred opposite Laura Dern in the film, The Tale, which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.

Nina

Played by Samantha Logan, Nina is a “well respected track star with a secret” at Liberty. In recent years, Samantha has appeared on episodes of The Fosters, Teen Wolf, General Hospital, and 666 Park Avenue. She also starred in the pilot episode of NBC’s Cruel Intentions in 2017.

Jackie

Played by Broadway legend Kelli O’Hara, Jackie is an “advocate for victims of bullying” on season two of 13 Reasons Why. In 2015, O’Hara won a Tony for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for The King and I. Her most recent TV work includes Masters of Sex and The Good Fight.

Rick

Played by Ben Lawson, Rick is Liberty High’s baseball coach. Ben was a series regular on the ABC political drama Designated Survivor, which was cancelled after two seasons in May 2018. He’s also appeared on episodes of Modern Family, iZombie, 2 Broke Girls, and Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23.

Sonya

Played by Allison Miller, Sonya is described as an “ambitious young litigator.” Allison’s TV work has included roles on the Matthew Perry NBC series Go On, Private Practice (opposite Kate Walsh, aka Hannah’s mum), and the short-lived Selfie.

Carolyn

Played by Meredith Monroe, Carolyn is a nurse and Alex’s mother on season two. Viewers previously met Alex’s father, a police officer, on season one. Meredith is of course best known for her work on Dawson’s Creek as Andie McPhee.

Caleb

Played by RJ Brown, Caleb is described (via Deadline) as Tony’s boxing trainer who’s “a fierce competitor and dedicated coach, but out of the ring he has a warm smile and a wry sense of humour.” RJ previously appeared on Tycoon, The Carrie Diaries, and Girls.

Nora

Played by Brenda Strong, Nora is Bryce’s mum. Most recently, the TV veteran appeared on Supergirl as Lillian Luthor. Her expansive résumé includes the Dallas revival, Desperate Housewives, Seinfeld, and 7th Heaven.

Barry

Played by Jake Weber, Barry is Bryce’s dad, a “successful hedge fund manager and pillar of the community.” Since 2017, Jake has had a recurring role as Brett O’Keefe on Showtime’s Homeland. He also appeared on all seven seasons of Medium as Patricia Arquette’s onscreen husband, Joe Dubois.
