NORTHERN MICHIGAN — School districts within the Charlevoix-Emmet Intermediate School District are ready to welcome the Class of 2037 with kindergarten roundups and open houses for students enrolling in the 2024-25 school year.

The following is a list of kindergarten registration open houses, parent meetings and school tours planned throughout the Char-Em ISD's 11 public schools, charter academies and private schools.

Antrim County

Central Lake Public Schools

When: Thursday, April 11: By appointment only.

Ebenezer Christian School

When: Thursday, April 11 from 3-6 p.m.

Ellsworth Public Schools

When: Tuesday, April 9 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Appointment required for parent meeting, orientation and tours.

Charlevoix County

Beaver Island Community School

If your child is a prospective kindergarten student, call the Beaver Island CommunitySchool office at (231) 448-2744 to set up an appointment to meet the staff and learn about theprogram.

Boyne City Public Schools

Parents/guardians will need to register for a kindergarten roundup session of their choice byfilling out a kindergarten pre-registration form that is available at boyne.k12.mi.us.

The following registration sessions will be held:

  • Wednesday, May 1: 4:30-5:30 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.

  • Thursday, May 2: 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.

  • Friday, May 3: 9:30-10:30 a.m.

East Jordan Public Schools

Kindergarten registration is now open online. Click on the link at ejps.org. An open house will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, May 6 at the elementary school. Kindercamp for all incoming kindergarten students takes place from 9-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the elementary school.

St. Francis Xavier School

When: Thursday, April 18 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Open house style, no appointment necessary. Preschool and developmental kindergarten information also available during this time.

For all kindergarten registrations: Char-Em ISD advises parents to bring proof of residency and the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and custody documentation, if applicable.

If you have questions about enrolling in kindergarten or the listed events, contact the specific school district.

Michigan law states that for the 2024-25 school year, a child who resides in a public school district providing kindergarten may be enrolled if the child is at least 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2024. For children who will be 5 by Dec. 1, 2024, parents may enroll their child through written notification to the school district.
