Changes coming, but mixed showers likely in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – As Monday begins, there is still a chance for the Portland metro area to see mixed showers of snow and rain.

Snow levels will drop right about 500 feet through our early morning hours — meaning we could see a few snow showers and brief dustings of snow around the Willamette Valley. Despite snow/rain in the forecast early in the day, we still don’t expect any impact for roadways around Portland. The mixed showers aren’t expected to last long enough for any real snow accumulation. Morning temps will also hover in the mid-30s.

Winter Weather Alerts

Where we could see snow accumulation and slick road conditions is along our coast and in the foothills of the Cascades. Right now, there is a Winter Weather Advisory for the coast above 500 feet with 2 to 5 inches of new snow likely. The coast advisory will expire Monday at noon, while the foothills Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect until 4 p.m. Monday with the chance of 2 to 8 inches of new snow.

Chilly mornings

Portland’s skies will start to dry out once we get to Tuesday. But make sure to still bundle up because Tuesday through Friday morning, temperatures will hover in the low 30s.

It’s not until we get to Friday that we start to see both the morning lows and daytime highs rise back to our normal seasonal temps.
