Chance To Meet G-Dragon In New HIV Campaign

The BIGBANG star has collaborated with RED, a non-profit organization that works to fight HIV and AIDS, to fly the winner of the contest to Seoul.

BIGBANG’s G-Dragon took to social media to provide his fans from across the world a chance to be flown down to Seoul and have a meal with the K-pop star.

In a draw being held in collaboration with RED, a non-profit organization that works to fight HIV and AIDS, a lucky winner and his or her friend will be flown down to South Korea to meet the BIGBANG idol.

The organization’s 10th anniversary celebration will allow the randomly picked winner to stay at a 4-star hotel in Seoul and receive a fully–guided tour of YG Entertainment’s headquarters by the man himself. Following this, the winner will share a private meal with G-Dragon and access signed souvenirs.

To enter the contest, a donation has to be made to the cause. The types of entries range from $10 for 100 entries as the lowest, to $5,000 for 50,000 entries at the highest level. The site also says that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be matching every dollar raised by the non-profit during this event.

The motive behind the giveaway is to raise awareness and donations about the deadly condition that plagues millions across the world. According to UNAIDS, there were approximately 36.7 million people worldwide living with HIV/AIDS at the end of 2015. Of these, 1.8 million were children.

The contest’s page says that 400 babies are born with human immunodeficiency virus everyday, but the number can be brought down drastically by as early as 2020. HIV+ mothers can reportedly be prevented from passing on the virus to their unborn child with the help of antiretroviral pills. Calling on people to “end AIDS now,” RED has vowed to get these mothers access to the medication, which costs 30 cents a day in sub-Saharan Africa.
