Champion man arrested following police chase through Marquette County

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WJMN) – A man from Champion will face seven charges following a police chase that started in Ishpeming and ended in Skandia on Monday night.

According to Ishpeming Police, an officer tried to pull over the driver of a motorcycle near the intersection of Jasper and Summit streets around 9:22 p.m Monday. When the officer turned on his emergency lights and siren, the driver did not stop, but drove away.

Police say they started a pursuit which traveled through County Road 480 in Negaunee, then to M553. The driver of the motorcycle did not stop until he reached the area of M94 near Engman Lake Road in Skandia.

Deadly fire under investigation in Sault Ste. Marie

The man was arrested and taken to the Marquette County Jail. He will be arraigned on the following charges:

  • Fourth degree fleeing a Police Officer (Four counts)

  • Reckless driving

  • Operating a vehicle with a revoked driver’s license

  • Operating a vehicle without security (insurance)

The suspect’s name will not be released until after he arraigned on those charges.
