Champaign Fire, Police skating for charity in annual Battle of the Badges hockey game

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Fire and Police Departments are trading in their boots for skates this weekend for charity.

The firefighters and police officers are going head-to-head in their annual Battle of the Badges hockey game, hosted by Peacemaker Project 703. The opening puck drop will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at the University of Illinois Ice Arena.

Referendum to keep UI Ice Arena skates by in student election

The event is free to attend, but donations will be accepted for the United Way of Champaign County’s emergency shelter.
