URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign County Regional Planning Commission is hosting an open house in Urbana, where the community is welcome to share their thoughts on the proposed changes to Lincoln Avenue.

The open house will allow the public to receive information about the Lincoln Avenue Corridor project, provide input, and ask questions. The project aims to reduce the high frequency of crashes in this high-traffic area by improving bike and pedestrian safety. Some ways that officials are looking to achieve this is through bike lanes, signalized pedestrian crossings, lane reductions, access control, and more.

Project staff are currently focusing on future scenarios for the corridor, and are relying on public feedback for what those scenarios should look like. More details on the project can be viewed online.

survey and comment map are also available options through which community members can share their thoughts. They will be open through Wednesday, May 15.
