Chamber, PRMC hosts Teacher Appreciation Month celebration

May 2—In celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Month, the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce and Palestine Regional Medical Center, with sponsorships from various local businesses, are hosting their annual countywide celebration for education professionals. This year's event is being held from 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the YMCA.

"We are so excited to be able to show our Anderson County educators, paraprofessionals and staff the appreciation they deserve after a long year of teaching and loving our littles," said Chamber Director Angela Howell-Fields.

According to Howell-Fields, teachers and other educational professionals will enjoy food, music, games and giveaways donated by more than 50 local businesses that also want to show appreciation for educators.

"It's an evening full of fun and relaxation that we are proud to host each year during National Teacher Appreciation Week," she said. "All Anderson County school districts and child care organizations are invited to attend."

Along with PRMC, this year's sponsors include Pineywoods Real Estate, The Overlook Luxury Apartments and Ivan Smith Furniture.

"This will be PRMC's sixth year sponsoring a teacher appreciation event with the chamber of commerce," said Becky Falconer, PRMC growth and outreach director. "We want all teachers to know how much we value them. Supporting this event with high quality food as well as our Palestine Medical Group Providers is a great way to show them."

This event has become an end-of-year tradition for educators.

"Palestine Independent School District is extremely grateful to be part of a community that values education and educators," said PISD Public Relations Director Larissa Loveless. "Not only during Teacher Appreciation Week, but throughout the year our community places teachers and students and their successes at the forefront."
