Chamber of Commerce to host City Council, School Board forum on Tuesday, May 21

May 17—GRAND FORKS — Candidates for contested seats on the Grand Forks City Council and School Board will gather for a forum on Tuesday evening, May 21.

The event, sponsored by the Grand Forks-East Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce, will start at 6 p.m., opening with brief statements from candidates who are unopposed in the June 11 elections. That lineup includes Mayor Brandon Bochenski and City Council members Danny Weigel and Ken Vein.

After that, at 6:15 p.m., will be a forum featuring the four candidates who are vying for two contested City Council seats. They include Tricia Berg and Marie Stewart in Ward 3 and Jodi Carlson and Mike Fridolfs in Ward 5.

At 7 p.m., School Board candidates will take the stage. They include Amber Flynn, Jay Kleven, Eric Lunn, Jeff Manley, Cameron Murphy and Roland Riemers. There are four at-large seats open in the School Board race.

The forums are being conducted by the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee, with committee Co-Chair Stacey Dahl, of Minnkota Power, serving as moderator.

According to a release from the Chamber of Commerce, the event will be televised live on local cable and will be rebroadcasted several times prior to the June 11 election. The rebroadcast schedule will be announced Tuesday evening.
