Century man sentenced to 30 years for trafficking 98 grams of cocaine

The Office of the State Attorney announced Wednesday that a 34-year-old Century man will spend the next 30 years in a Florida prison after being convicted on multiple armed drug charges.

Circuit Judge Linda Nobles sentenced Kendrick Lamar Washington to 30 years in Florida's Department of Corrections for trafficking cocaine, unlicensed carrying of a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to a press release.

"Armed drug traffickers must be held accountable for profiting from the pain and misery they inflict upon our community," said Assistant State Attorney Christopher Patterson.

Escambia County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Washington on June 24, 2022 after they found 98 grams of cocaine in his right pocket, a loaded .38 caliber revolver in his left pocket and "thousands of dollars in cash."

A jury later convicted Washington on all counts during Washington's trial on March 30, 2023.

"Based on Mr. Washington's criminal history, the court designated him a habitual felony offender," the press release said. "He was also assessed $50,000 in mandatory fines under Florida's drug trafficking statute."
