Central ISD seeks $28.4M bond to renovate decade-old campuses

POLLOK, Texas (KETK) – Central Independent School District will have a $28.4 million bond for residents to vote on in the May ballot to potentially begin renovations and upgrades.

According to the school district, the funds would be used for safety and security updates in their campuses and renovations as 10 of 15 facilities are more than 30 years old.

The projects that Central ISD plans on doing if the bond is passed are listed below:

  • Renovation of the 1989 annex building

  • Renovation of the 1981 high school building

  • Upgrade a multi-purpose building

  • Renovate the 5th grade building that was built in 1985

  • Addition of special serivces

  • Renovation of the band hall opened in 1964

  • Renovation of the 1992 cafeteria

  • Addition at the career and tech building

  • Renovations at the high school gym opened in 1994

  • Renovations of the gym opened in 1957

  • Addition of new high school classrooms

  • New entrance building at the high school and junior high

  • Addition of a three-lane student pick-up driveway

  • Demolition of a classroom wing in the old gym

  • Grade realignment at the elementary campus

  • Conversion of the junior high building to a 4th and 5th grade campus

“If passed, the bond’s financial impact to district homeowners is estimated to have a daily impact of $0.49 for a $150,000 home valuation,” the district said.

People who are registered voters within Central ISD will be able to vote on the bond on May 4 on Election Day.
