CENTERVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Centerville mom got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cheer on her son-in-law, a member of the San Francisco 49ers, alongside her daughter at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.

Lori Pullen and her daughter, Zan Brendel — a former Miss Hickman County — watched live as 49ers starting center Jake Brendel went head-to-head with the Kansas City Chiefs.

“The atmosphere is electric. It’s just, there are so many 9ers fans here,” Pullen said. “After the NFC Championship game, my sister called me, she goes, ‘So, what are your plans?’ And I was like, ‘Well, I think I’m just going to try to get to Vegas and stay in a hotel to be there for the atmosphere,’ never dreaming that I would get to get to go to the Super Bowl.”

Shortly after that game, Pullen got a call from Zan inviting her to watch the Super Bowl live.

Pullen recalled watching Zan and Jake’s relationship start while the two were attending the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and growing alongside the course of his football career, including stints with the Dallas Cowboys, the Miami Dolphins, the Denver Broncos, and the Baltimore Ravens.

“He’s worked really hard, and we’ve been so excited to see how hard he has worked over his entire career, and I’m just so proud that it’s going to lead him to the biggest stage possible,” Pullen said.

Ever since the 49ers claimed their spot in the big game, Pullen said she and Zan have seen an outpouring of support from their hometown of Centerville.

“It warms my heart to see those connections that she made reach out to her and support her. Again, the day after the NFC Championship, I opened my Facebook page and it was just full of ‘Go Zan, go Jake, go 9ers,’ and our town does rally around, so Centerville thinks they’re in the Super Bowl, and we are, so we’ve got support from everywhere,” Pullen said.

Zan and Jake started dating in 2014 and tied the knot two years ago.

“They have a great relationship and a great partnership, and they always do what they need to do to ensure each other’s success, so I’m very proud of them and the family that they’ve created,” Pullen said.

The Chiefs ultimately won the 58th Super Bowl in overtime, beating the 49ers 25 to 22.
