Centerton residents vote for community center bonds in Benton County election

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Centerton residents vote for the Centerton Community Center bonds on March 5 with 61% of the vote.

According to the Benton County Election Commission, Centerton voters also voted for refunding bonds and tax with 61% of the vote, for street improvement bonds with 72% of the vote, for parks and recreation improvements bonds with 65% of the vote and for police facilities bonds with 60% of the vote.

Centerton mayor Bill Edwards says residents won’t see any change in their taxes. The city is extending the current 1% sales tax for a 30-year term.

“However the sales tax grows, that’ll pay off faster. We don’t expect it to last 30 years. We don’t give an estimate till we see sales tax increase, but as it increases, it all goes to the principal,” Edwards said.
