Ford Settles Final Lawsuit in John Cena GT Sale
Update 6/25/2018: According to Jalopnik, Ford has also settled with New Autos Inc., the dealership that came into possession of John Cena's GT and resold it to a new buyer. The settlement closed for an undisclosed amount on June 21st, 2018-just one day after Ford's settlement with Cena officially closed.
Update 6/19/2018: John Cena has reportedly settled with Ford for an undisclosed amount following the contract-breaking sale of his Ford GT. In a statement sent to Jalopnik from Cena's lawyers, the wrestler apologized to Ford. The statement further claims proceeds from the settlement will be donated to an unspecified charity. It's only been a few months since we first heard Ford was suing professional wrestler John Cena for selling his recently-purchased GT supercar, breaching a contract he signed with the company promising he would keep the car for at least two years. Now, according to Cena, there was never any restriction in the paperwork he signed to sell the car to begin with.
If you're familiar with how Ford went about selling the GT, you'll know any person selected for ownership is required to sign a contract stating they will not resell the car for at least 24 months, lest they face legal action. According to TMZ, new court documents filed in Michigan say that the final contract Cena signed didn't include any language about having to keep the car two years before being able to sell it.
TMZ says Cena is now asking the Judge to throw out the case because he did nothing wrong.
