Celtic vs Manchester City player ratings

Celtic and Manchester City staged an entertaining 3-3 draw in their all-British encounter in the Champions League.

Here’s how Yahoo Sport UK rated the individual contributions.

CELTIC

Craig Gordon: 6 - Shot-stopping was strong and he will be gutted to have shipped three. His distribution, however, was pretty poor.

Mikael Lustig: 6 - Burly full-back was in the wars but performed respectably up against the game Silva and Sterling.

Kolo Touré: 7 - One of Kolo’s more composed games in recent memory. Helped the hosts stay sturdy when City turned the screw in the second half.

Eric Sviatchenko: 6 - Had the shot on goal for the opener which was turned into an assist by the chest of Dembele.

Kieran Tierney: 7 - Teenager found plenty of space with a great overlapping run to put Celtic back ahead with the aid of a Sterling deflection before also creating their third.

Scott Brown: 7 - A true captain’s performance, with calm passing and strong tackling as the underdogs assumed an unlikely front foot.

Nir Bitton: 7 - Along with Brown, formed the nexus which enabled Brendan Rodgers’ style to earn Celtic a point.

Scott Sinclair: 6 - Had his fair share of possession in dangerous areas but really worked hard tracking back when needed.

Tom Rogic: 7 - Had his moments in attack, and helped spearhead a Celtic midfield that was tough to contain.

James Forrest: 7 - Cracking first-time assist for the opener, even if Dembele’s final touch relegated it to ‘pre-assist’ status

Moussa Dembele: 8 - Stumbled upon the opening goal but his second was far more majestic. Was a threat whenever the service was there.

Subs - Stuart Armstrong (for Rogic, 57mins): 6; Patrick Roberts (for Forrest, 81mins): n/a; Leigh Griffiths (for Britton, 84mins): n/a.

MANCHESTER CITY

Claudio Bravo: 5 - Made a few decent saves but still shipped three in a game City were expected to win and lacked composure throughout.

Pablo Zabaleta: 6 - The away captain was at the heart of many a forward move but was also one quarter of a wobbly back line.

Aleksandar Kolarov: 6 - Roamed forward from CB as if he was still playing on the flanks. Led to chances (and a goal) but also one of several reasons the visitors didn’t win.

Nicolas Otamendi: 5 - Imposed himself physically but was also quite clumsy at times.

Gael Clichy: 6 - Had his hands full on the left, especially in the first half.

Fernandinho: 6 - Fired in City’s first leveller but struggled to assert himself in midfield.

David Silva: 7 - Neatly played in Sterling for 2-2 and was at the heart of many of City’s best advances.

Ilkay Gundogan: 5 - Likely wasn’t expecting to be overrun in midfield the way he and Fernandinho were, especially in the first half.

Raheem Sterling: 8 - Ended up on both sides of the scoresheet. Looks a more complete player under Guardiola’s instructions.

Nolito: 7 - Energetic and intelligent, ultimately salvaged a point from Aguero’s rebound.

Sergio Aguero: 7 - Caused the home defence problems all night but had to settle for only an assist to his name.

Subs - John Stones (for Clichy, 73mins): 6; Fernando (for Nolito, 76mins): n/a
