Celebrity Secret Santas Pick Up Layaway Tabs for Lucky Walmart Shoppers
Walmart shoppers are experiencing Christmas miracles when they discover their layaway balance has been paid in full by anonymous donors.
Anonymous Secret Santas have spent more than $130,000 on Walmart layaway tabs.
Tyler Perry has inspired other celebrities to follow his lead and spread the generosity this holiday.
Santa’s helpers are out in full force this holiday season, as anonymous benefactors and celebrities create Christmas miracles for unsuspecting Walmart shoppers all across the country.
Good Samaritan Santas have paid off entire layaway tabs at four Walmart locations in Vermont, Pennsylvania, New York and Colorado. The purchases, totaling more than $130,000, have been covered thanks to others’ kind generosity.
Anonymous Benefactors Pay Off Layaway Bills Worth Thousands
It’s unclear if the Secret Santas are operating within a larger network, but CNN reported that one Kriss Kringle paid for $57,000 in layaway items in at the Uniondale, N.Y., store; a Colorado Santa shelled out $44,000 at the Longmont store; and a third St. Nick laid out $29,000 at a Walmart in Kennett Square, Penn.
“When customers quietly pay off others’ layaway items, we’re reminded how good people can be,” Walmart spokesman Payton McCormick told CNN. “We’re honored to be a small part of these random acts of kindness.”

Celebrities Pay It Forward for the Holidays, Too
It appears that celebrities and moguls have also caught the holiday spirit. Gayle Benson, the owner of the professional sports teams New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans, picked up a tab close to $100,000 for Black Friday Walmart shoppers last month. Tyler Perry, the actor and filmmaker, generously paid the layaway balances totaling more than $430,000 at two Atlanta Walmart stores earlier this month.
His monumental act of kindness sparked a contagious spirit and inspired others to pay it forward. Singer Kid Rock, motivated by Perry’s act of service, spread his own bit of holiday cheer and paid off the layaway at a Nashville, Tenn. Walmart. Conservative political pundit Glenn Beck paid $27,000 on a layaway balance at a Dallas-area Walmart.
