ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – April 12 is the International Day of Human Space Flight. Celebrity Historian Raffi Andonian speaks on New Mexico’s connections with space exploration and encounters.

The day the Space Shuttle Columbia landed in New Mexico

Andonian says White Sands, in New Mexico, contributed to the Apollo moon missions with testing that was done there. In the 1930’s Robert Goddard conducted rocket testing in New Mexico. Even the first commercial flight to space came from Spaceport America in New Mexico. Of course the Roswell crash is something New Mexico is famous for. New Mexico has a long history of being connected to space.
