Celebrities were seriously excited about the eclipse

It’s not just your Facebook friends. It seemed the whole country — including a lot of Hollywood stars — was keyed up about the solar eclipse, which crossed the United States from coast to coast on Monday.

They had their glasses ready. They had their themed snacks. They had Bonnie Tyler fever (and jokes!). Let’s see which stars obsessed over the astronomical event.

“How amazing was that?” wrote Reese Witherspoon, rocking her robe on the set.

Olivia Munn watched it go down along with her dog Frankie.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas enjoyed it with their kids. Fun fact: She says she’s related to Bonnie Tyler, so perhaps that’s why she went all out.

Special events call for special Nirvana tees, according to Amanda Seyfried.

“Wowza,” remarked Sharon Stone.

Zac Efron was “ready for the future.”

“There goes the sun do do do do,” wrote Amy Schumer.

Christie Brinkley also had a DIY viewer.

Ditto Elizabeth Banks.

Perhaps the coolest eclipse viewing party was this one: Book Club co-stars Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, Jane Fonda, and Mary Steenburgen took it in together on the set.

Gwyneth Paltrow watched with her son, Moses.

Lady Gaga had “take me to your planet” written on her hands. Just in case!

Nikki Reed came out of her month-long, post-baby social media hiatus to share a shot of Ian Somerhalder wearing several pairs of shades while looking up at the sky. “Honey you sure you can see through those?!” she wrote. “The only way to watch the solar eclipse brought to you by my husband, inventor of all things practical.” We hope at least one pair had the special frames, as we’ve learned that regular shades won’t prevent eye damage.

Kristen Bell had a viewing party on a NYC street.

Karlie Kloss modeled her “eyewear by NASA.

“What eclipse?” asked Paul McCartney.

Brooklyn Decker and Andy Roddick made it a family thing, which included their young son, Hank.

“Total eclipse of the heart,” wrote Kim Kardashian as she snuggled North and Saint.

It was also a group thing for Danica McKellar, of Wonder Years fame. Though her son was … distracted. “Maybe there was a bug flying by?” she joked.

Yup, Supernatural star Jared Padalecki is still a riot. Along with this photo of him with binoculars, he wrote, “We don’t get the ‘total’ eclipse here in Vancouver, so I brought my special eclipse goggles! This is awesome! Just to think, every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all my years had gone by.”

Charlie Sheen can always find something to cheers. Today, it was the eclipse. “Well done Sun!‬ ‪ Well done Moon!‬ ‪CHEERS!!‬” he wrote with the hashtag‬ ‪”#CataractParty.”

Paris Hilton made a funny about the whole thing. “Me trying to peek at the solar eclipse without ‘special’ glasses,” she wrote.

Modern Family‘s Julie Bowen made a shoebox projector.

Someone, who apparently didn’t find it up to snuff, took pity on her and loaned her some glasses. (Though all anyone could talk about in the comments of this photo was how she had food in her teeth.)

Sarah Michelle Gellar was ready.

Elementary co-stars Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller peeped together.

America Ferrera described the experience as “soooo cool.”

Ryan Seacrest showed off his special specs pre-eclipse. “Solar glasses, check,” he wrote. “Ready for you #greatamericaneclipse.”

Meanwhile, Kelly Ripa, who has been on vacay, admitted she was “too afraid to look,” but she wasn’t too afraid to snap a pic.

Rosario Dawson joked about what really happens during an eclipse.

Sheryl Crow also got her hands on some special shades, which have been selling out. The songstress also planned to make a moon pie, a tasty treat also seeing a boom thanks to the eclipse.

Of course Al Roker was ready.

“Are you watching? I am!” wrote Larry King.

The excitement over the eclipse has had an effect on Alanis Morissette‘s sleep, she says.

Real Housewives of New York City‘s Carole Radziwill was using the eclipse to channel peace. “The universe is aligning & the eclipse will shed light on your true desires!!!” she wrote. “Close your eyes and imagine… #eclipse2017 #peace.”

Andy Cohen looked to Pink Floyd to put him in the mood.

Today’s eclipse was exciting and everything, but it was hard to top a past one that Marion Cotillard witnessed. “Saw the one in France in august 1999. One of the best experiences of my life!” the Oscar winner wrote.

Ivanka Trump shared an explainer on what to expect.

Joe Jonas, along with DNCE, performed with Bonnie Tyler of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” fame aboard a cruise ship.

“Oh cool you saw the eclipse… did you sing Total Eclipse of the Heart with Bonnie Tyler On a cruise ship while the Eclipse happened?” he wrote? Game. Set. Match.
