WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The celebrations kept going after the big parade in Wilkes-Barre. That meant a boom for bar and restaurant businesses, including one for which this day is one of its busiest all year.

For Rodanos and Franklin’s on Public Square, a day like parade day brings hundreds of people to the restaurant.

Workers call it a hotspot on this weekend every year and the large attraction doesn’t happen by luck.

Moving the energy and rhythm out on the street straight to the dance floor inside rodano’s sunday evening after the Saint Patrick’s Parade.

Emma Clark, serving those at Rodanos and Franklins for three years, has seen the place fill up more and more each parade day.

“I’m pretty confident that we already exceeded our sales from last year. We have chicken tenders now pizza, mac n cheese bites It’s definitely more college kids coming. Franklin’s has definitely grown a ton,” said food runner Emma Clark.

For some, it has already been that bar, but a special Irish celebration brings out a greater appreciation.

“The business gets supported in the local area. You see a lot of people that you haven’t seen in a while. It’s just a really good time overall,” said Joe Aupicki of Wilkes-Barre.

For its bartenders, a little more gold in the pot goes a long way.

“It’s awesome while I am working in school. It’s really helping me out. It helps pay for my college,” said Bartender Christina Heppding.

“You just need to be involved in the community and actually grow relationships with the customers. As time goes on this is really going to be the bar to be at,” Food runner Emma Clark said.

After one of the busiest nights of the year for the restaurant, what comes as its only day of the week off, Monday will be one well appreciated.
