Celebrating 45 Years of Joplin’s Lafayette House

QUAPAW, Okla. — It’s a Sapphire Soiree tonight at Downstream Casino and Resort.

Lafayette House is decked out in blue and celebrating 45 years of service with their “Ooh-La Lafayette” event. It’s a fun-filled night of buffets and auctions — spread across two parties.

The Alcove featured live music, liquor tasting, and KODE’s own Mike Olmstead as emcee. Meanwhile, attendees at The Fashion Show enjoyed a photo booth, surprise bags filled with goodies, and gift cards from local businesses, featuring Jessica Schaer — from our sister station KSN — as emcee.

“45 years is a long time to be an agency. And so, it’s incredible to see how we’ve transpired over the course of the years. We’re now, we’re serving domestic, sexual assault, and substance use disorders for men, women, and their children. And so, we’ve really grown in our mission and the services we’re able to provide,” said Chelsea Conley, Lafayette House Development Director.

Thursday night’s celebration is Lafayette House’s only fundraiser of the year.
