Cedar Point employee run over in parking lot by hit-and-run driver: Police

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WJW) – Police in Sandusky are looking for the person responsible for running over a Cedar Point employee in the amusement park’s parking lot.

According to a police report, the incident occurred on Friday, May 10, shortly after the park had closed at 8 p.m. Officers were called to the amusement park’s main parking lot near pole 28-A. Once there, officers found a Cedar Point traffic employee had been run over by a Cadillac Escalade that then took off from the scene.

A witness told police, he heard the victim yell at the SUV to stop because they were running him over. The victim then fell to the ground and the witness said the Escalade ran over both of the victim’s legs and kept driving.

The witness told police, he then ran up to the Escalade’s window and yelled at the driver to stop, and told the man behind the wheel that he had just run over someone. The witness said the driver would not look in his direction and kept driving. The witness was able to snap a picture of the suspect’s vehicle and license plate.

According to the report, the vehicle is registered to a woman in Southgate, Michigan. The witness told police, that the driver appeared to be a male, possibly with facial hair, and the passenger appeared to be a female.

The Cedar Point employee told police, he was bent over and picking up an item when the SUV hit him.

Police said in the report, that they are working with Cedar Point to review surveillance video and positively identify the driver.
