The collapse of a section of a high-rise apartment building in Belgorod could be a Russian information provocation aimed at justifying further attacks on Ukrainian cities, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko, said on April 12.

“The house in Belgorod seems to have been blown up,” he wrote in his Telegram post.

“The video from the cameras does not show any falling objects, so all the Russian accusations of strike by the Defense Forces are not true.”

It may have been a domestic explosion that Russian propaganda is “twisting” in its own interests.

Earlier in the day, a video of the almost instantaneous collapse of a section of a high-rise apartment building after the ground-level explosion in the Russian administrative center of Belgorod, was posted on social media.

The collapse was caused by the fall of fragments from a Tochka-U missile, which was reportedly shot down by Russian air defenses, the country’s Defense Ministry claimed.
