CBP Executes Readiness Exercise at San Ysidro Port of Entry

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Personnel executed a readiness exercise at the San Ysidro port of entry in California on November 22.

The exercise was carried out directly across the border from a group of migrants who split off from a caravan traveling north through Mexico and are waiting in Tijuana to make asylum claims at the U.S. border.

An estimated 5,000 Central American migrants have arrived in Tijuana, according to reports.

Video taken on Thanksgiving Day shows US CBP agents in face masks with riot shields creating a line at the border as part of an exercise. The same day, President Trump threatened to “shut down” points of entry and claimed to have done so already in remarks to reporters. Earlier in the week, he signed an order authorizing US troops at the border to use force to protect CBP personnel. Credit: Shawn Moore via Storyful
