CBCC to offer free skin cancer screenings May 18

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — May is National Melanoma & Skin Cancer Awareness Month and the Comprehensive Blood & Cancer Center is raising awareness by hosting a free cancer screening next weekend.

Skin cancer is the most common from of cancer in the Nation. If caught early, the majority of skin cancers like, melanoma, can have up to a 99% survival rate, CBCC Dermatologist Dr. Geover Fernandez said through a news release.

The skin check-up is available for members of the community who do not have health insurance. While the screening is free, you will have to schedule an appointment by calling 661-936-5545.

Each patient will get a free skin kit that includes dermatologist recommended products, hats and more.

The screening is happening Saturday, May 18 from 8 to 11 a.m., at the dermatology center located at 6401 Truxtun Ave. For more information visit their website, CBCCUSA.com
