Cause of NE Ohio plane crash now under investigation
BOLIVAR, Ohio (WJW) — A single-engine plane crashed in Stark County early Thursday, April 25, while attempting to land in a field, according to state and federal authorities.
It happened at about 1:30 a.m., according to a Friday release from the Federal Aviation Administration, but state troopers said they were not notified of the crash until just after 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

The pilot, its only occupant, was attempting to land the Stinson 108 in a field near Sherman Church Avenue Southwest and Riverdale Street Southwest in Bethlehem Township, just north of Bolivar.
The pilot successfully landed the plane, but it then hit a culvert, according to authorities.

The pilot, identified by the state patrol as a 75-year-old Gnadenhutten man, suffered a minor injury.
The man was forced to land after a suspected equipment malfunction, according to the patrol.
An FAA investigation is now pending. The administration has not yet released a preliminary incident report.
