Caught on camera: burglars ransack St. Louis Boutique, escape with loot

ST. LOUIS — On Thursday, police are investigating a series of overnight break-ins across south St. Louis. One of the break-ins took place at Girlfriend’s Boutique, a clothing boutique.

A surveillance video shows a broken front door with one man standing outside. Just a couple of seconds later, four guys climb out of the door with their hands full of stolen merchandise.

“Shoes, clothes, throwing stuff in the trunk and going back in,” said Brian Jones, Girlfriends Boutique Owner.

She said that the intruders took a bunch of designer t-shirts and a bunch of J’s. They broke the window to the cash register with money inside and stole a legal firearm.

Jones said, unfortunately, Thursday isn’t the first break-in they’ve had in the area. “It makes me want to pick up the whole store and just move it. Because this isn’t the only store that got broken into.”

He hopes someone recognizes the car or one of the guys in the video. Jones estimates he’s out thousands of dollars but is trying to stay positive.

“Don’t let anything like this break you down. Just stay strong. Try to build back up and start all over again. You can’t say ‘learn from your mistakes’ because I feel like there weren’t any mistakes,” said Jones.
