Catherine, Duchess Of Cambridge Sticks To Trusty McQueen For The Royal Christening

There’s no denying that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, keeps to tradition when it comes to her sartorial choices.

Kate Middleton opted for a cream Alexander McQueen coat dress for the Royal Christening yesterday, July 6 - remarkably similar to the outfit she wore for her son Prince George’s christening.

The 33-year-old Duchess looked very elegant indeed in the fitted, knee-length coat, which featured exaggerated lapels, hidden buttons and waist-cinching detail.

Catherine proved she was a creature of habit by wearing a feathered Jane Taylor hat and nude heels, as she did for George’s christening in October 2013.

It’s the third time she’s worn McQueen for a major public event, suggesting she has a very special relationship with the British fashion house.

Prior to George’s christening, she chose the label (headed up by Sarah Burton) for her highly anticipated wedding to Prince William in 2011.

For Princess Charlotte’s christening, which took place at St Mary Magdalene Church on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk this weekend, the Duchess donned a regal, plaited up-do, which could be seen beneath her cream hat.

Mappin & Webb jewellery completed the mother-of-two’s Royal Christening look, which could be seen as she walked nine-week-old daughter Charlotte to church in her pram, alongside her husband and adorable son, George.

Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton, 31, wore a bespoke Emilia Wickstead coat-dress for the occasion, coupled with nude Charlotte Olympia heels.

The official christening photos of Princess Charlotte, taken by acclaimed fashion photographer Mario Testino, are expected to be released later this week.
