PM loses extraordinary vote on Brexit legal advice
Theresa May has lost a historic vote after MPs ruled that the Government was in contempt of Parliament over its refusal to publish its own Brexit legal advice.
MPs decided the Prime Minister failed to comply with a binding Commons vote that required the government to publish attorney general Geoffrey Cox’s full legal advice on Mrs May’s Brexit deal.
Andrea Leadsom, the Commons leader, has said the full legal advice will be published on Wednesday.
Brexiteers believe the legal advice will show the deal could tie the UK to the customs union indefinitely.
Triple child killer cleared for release
A man who murdered three children before hanging their mutilated bodies on garden railings outside their home has been cleared for release by the Parole Board.
David McGreavy, now 67, killed Paul Ralph, four, and his sisters Dawn, two, and nine-month-old Samantha in their Worcester home where he was a lodger in 1973.
The Parole Board said that over his 45 years in custody, McGreavy has changed “considerably”.
Body found in search for British woman in Tenerife
Police searching for a missing British woman in Tenerife say they have found a body floating in the sea.
Amy Louise Gerard was last seen standing outside Irish bar Molly Malone’s in Puerto de la Cruz at around 12.20am on Friday.
Local police said the body was badly deteriorated as it had smashed against rocks in the water. Formal identification is yet to take place but the body is believed to be Ms Gerard.
