Cat killed in Johnson City house fire on Friday

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Johnson City firefighters responded to a house fire shortly after noon on Friday, and while no humans were injured, a pet did not survive.

The fire department responded to the 2600 block of Watauga Road around 12:37 p.m.

According to a city spokesperson, the first unit arrived within two minutes and reported smoke and flames visible in the front of the home.

No one was home at the time of the fire. A cat did not survive, according to the spokesperson.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
