ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Castle Point man has been charged in connection with a 2023 shooting outside a liquor store that left one man injured.

According to the Berkeley Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened on Sept. 3, 2023, outside the Liquor Doctor in the 8300 block of Airport Road.

Police claim Jalen Toles and other individuals attacked a man outside the store and pistol-whipped him. Toles and his cohorts stole the victim’s bag and then shot the man. One of the bullets struck the victim’s cellphone but did not pierce his body.

Toles and the others fled the scene in a car.

Investigators spoke with witnesses and reviewed surveillance stills, which helped them identify Toles.

Toles was arrested last week. Police claim he admitted to the shooting after seeing the surveillance images for himself.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Toles with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action. He was jailed on a $275,000 cash-only bond. Toles is due in court later this week.
