“We regret to inform our residents that there is a temporary disruption in water service affecting large portions of the Castle Pines North Metropolitan District and we are issuing a Boil Water Advisory until further notice,” the district said in the release. “Last night, during the ongoing Monarch Waterline Rehabilitation Project, a waterline ruptured while connecting the new line to our existing system. This incident has resulted in many residents waking up to find their water service interrupted this morning.”

Water was running again as of Wednesday afternoon, but the area is still on a boil notice. Business owners say it’s creating a lot of difficulties.

Store shelves emptied of bottled water

Amnish Kapor is the owner of Pines Bar and Grill. FOX31 watched two customers walk out of his restaurant to go somewhere else in Castle Rock because of the water issues.

“I tried to call the department today to check on the water situation, and I asked them: How many days? And they said they had no idea, but at the same time, they said I have to boil my water in my restaurant/ I was given that mandate,” Kapor said.

He made those calls while he kept his restaurant closed to figure out the situation, missing the lunch rush.

He said the restaurant is not equipped to boil all the water they use, so he has opted to use bottled and jugged water that he is paying for out of pocket.

“To have to boil it, cool it and then serve it, and we are not equipped to do that. I have to depend on the bottle of water, so I don’t know for how many days. If it was just for a day, it wouldn’t hurt so much, but if it continues, it’s going to hurt a lot,” Kapor said.

The city is feeling the impact too. Kapor said he could not get water at King Soopers because they were out.

Castle Pines said: “We anticipate resolving the problem within 24-48 hours (pending passing bacteriological samples), however, please wait for the official Boil Water Advisory to be lifted before proceeding. For more information, please contact Nathan Travis at 303-8274824 or (7404 Castle Pines Parkway, Castle Pines CO) Bottled water is available at our office located at 7404 Yorkshire Drive for those that need it.”
