The Cast of Box-Office Bomb Valerian Is Still Bravely Finishing Out Their Press Tour

They seem to be relatively fine!

The cast of Valerian has probably had better weekends. The big-budget sci-fi action film, which touts supermodel Cara Delevingne and Rihanna as its stars alongside more established actor Dane DeHaan, opened to $23 million worldwide. Its budget was $209 million. To make matters worse, the film’s competition, Dunkirk, exceeded its box-office expectations and raked in $105.9 million worldwide (congratulations to Harry Styles).

Valerian has not yet opened in most international markets—including France, where it was made—so the cast must march on with their press tour and try to convince the world that the movie no one is seeing is still worth two hours of their time. And they seem to be handling it . . . fine?

Delevingne, along with DeHaan and director Luc Besson, attended a photocall in London on Monday looking generally content with their current situation. The model-cum-actress looked stylish as ever in a plaid suit with leather boots, while Besson occasionally cracked what appeared to be a genuine smile. At one point Delevingne, posing alongside DeHaan, pulled her jacket over her head to shield her face while DeHaan looked at her as though he realized in that moment that the novelty of hanging out with a supermodel every day had officially worn off, and that he wasn't even getting a hit movie for his efforts.

Young, beautiful actors, if you are reading this, rest assured that this, too, shall pass. And when it does, you will still be young, beautiful actors. God speed.
