GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A local bipartisan group, Restore the Balance (RTB), is about to host a significant figure in the Jan 6. attacks on the U.S. Capitol, Cassidy Hutchinson, who is the guest speaker. She was an assistant to Donald Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows.

The event will take place at CMU on Tuesday. Hutchinson will provide the audience with an inside view of what happened behind the scenes during and after Jan. 6, 2021. Having been present at the White House, she has a unique perspective and brings first-hand knowledge of the events that occurred.

Hutchinson has written a book called “Enough” about those life-changing moments, which some RTB members call amazing and alarming at the same time. The tickets for the event are already sold out, but RTB is offering live stream access to the event for area residents, people from western Colorado and anyone else interested.

Hutchinson testified before the House Select Committee in 2022 regarding the Jan. 6, 2021 attacks on the U.S. Capitol. Samro, a Republican, says that he and others started RTB in response to the Jan. 6. attack on the U.S. Capitol. Their mission is to give a voice to moderation and civil dialogue while opposing the kind of extremism that is so divisive to the country today. According to Sarmo, Hutchinson is the perfect fit for their annual event, given that she witnessed history and then had the courage to testify.

Watch parties will be held in Fruita, downtown Delta and Durango. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. RTB will live stream the event on its YouTube page or to live stream it on WesternSlopeNow, click here.
