Casey Davis appointed Burleson fire chief
May 17—Casey Davis has been appointed Burleson Fire Department's new fire chief, following his six months as acting fire chief.
"Stepping into the role of fire chief for the city of Burleson is a profound honor and a dream realized," Davis said. "As a longtime resident and proud graduate of Burleson ISD, this community is not just where I work; it's my home. Raising my family here, I deeply understand the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens."
During his tenure as acting fire chief, Casey Davis demonstrated remarkable leadership, effectively managing various facets of the department. His adept handling of morale within the fire department, fostering solid relationships with mutual aid partners, and facilitating seamless communication and collaboration with the police and public safety communications departments have been widely acknowledged and commended.
City Manager Tommy Ludwig expressed his confidence in Davis,
"He has proven to me that he is the best leader for this department and that his actions are guided by what is in the best interest of not only the department but the city overall," Ludwig said.
Davis brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has dedicated 20 years of service to the Burleson Fire Department in various capacities, including as assistant chief since 2020. Additionally, Davis served ten years part-time with Keene Fire Rescue, where he held roles such as EMS chief, assistant chief and fire marshal.
"At the heart of our administration team's ethos is the belief that we are here to serve those who serve every day," Davis said.. "Our firefighters stand as the frontline in our citizens' darkest hours, and they do so with an incredible sense of duty and professionalism. It's a privilege to lead such a dedicated team."
Throughout his career, Davis has climbed through the ranks, serving as firefighter, engineer, lieutenant, captain, battalion chief and now fire chief. His contributions extend beyond traditional firefighting duties, as he has managed public health initiatives and spearheaded projects such as implementing an advanced EMS transport system.
Among his notable achievements are transforming the EMS program from Basic Life Support to Advanced Life Support, initiating CPR and Stop the Bleed programs for public education, and mapping AED locations across the city. Additionally, Davis has overseen the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, including LUCAS CPR devices and Zoll Cardiac Monitors, and the transition to a new report software for enhanced patient care reporting.
"My vision for Burleson Fire/EMS is clear: to cultivate the finest emergency response system possible, one that is responsive, compassionate, and unwaveringly dedicated to serving our community," Davis said. "Central to this mission is the well-being of our firefighters; I am committed to investing in their health, wellness, and preparedness, knowing they are the backbone of our service delivery."
Davis's exemplary service has been recognized with numerous awards, including Burleson Firefighter of the Year (2004), Keene Firefighter of the Year (2009), Burleson Officer of the Year (2012) and the Mayoral Choice award for Outstanding First Responder of the Year (2022).
