Carthage ISD teacher named finalist for H-E-B education award

CARTHAGE, Texas (KETK) – A Carthage High School teacher has been named as one of 50 finalists statewide for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.

According to a release, Catherine Jackson, a Carthage HS teacher, has been named a finalist in the Lifetime Achievement Award for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.

According to H-E-B, there were 50 finalists named statewide, teacher finalists were presented with a $1,000 check for themselves and a $1,500 check for their school and principal finalists were presented with a $1,000 check for themselves and a $2,500 check for their schools.

H-E-B said that on May 5 they will award further grants based on the decisions of a panel and the size of the school. Carthage ISD said that, as a finalist, Jackson is eligible to earn a $25,000 prize for herself and a $25,000 grant for Carthage ISD on May 5.
