Carthage ISD Education Foundation awards over $253K in grants
CARTHAGE, Texas (KETK) – The Carthage ISD Education Foundation traveled to each Carthage ISD campus and awarded over $253,000 in grants on Friday.

“This day holds a special place in my heart as I witness the priceless excitement gleaming on our students’ faces,” Cynthia Harkrider, executive director of the Carthage ISD Education Foundation, said. “We are truly blessed to reside in such a remarkably generous community in Carthage, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our donors.”
The Carthage ISD Education Foundation is a non-profit that says its mission is to provide financial support for teachers and students in the district, and they rely on donations from the community to be able to do so.
the foundation said that some of the programs that have received funding this year were:
Bulldog Buzz, a course offered at Carthage High School (CHS) about beekeeping and honey production.
The CHS culinary program was able to introduce a food truck, empowering students to gain industry skills and knowledge.
Carthage Primary School was able to receive a book vending machine.

“We are thrilled that the Education Foundation chose to fund these outstanding projects that will undoubtedly enhance the educational experience for our students,” Jarrod Bitter, Carthage ISD superintendent, said. “These grants exemplify our commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in our classrooms and we are so grateful to live in a place with such incredible community support for our school system.”
According to the Carthage ISD Education Foundation, during their grant patrol the following schools received grants:
Carthage Primary received 11 grants totaling more than $41,000
Libby Elementary received 13 grants totaling more than $42,000
Baker-Koonce received 15 grants totaling more than $49,000
Carthage Junior High received eight grants totaling more than $39,000
PACE Academy received one grant for $5,000
Carthage High School received 18 grants totaling more than $75,000
